She explained that she was unaware of the ongoing conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) when she promoted the show.
“I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without knowing about the conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never meant to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I apologize if it seemed that way. I had no idea this was happening. My heart goes out to those affected,” she said.
Rwanda and the DRC have had conflicts since 1996. In January, a new wave of fighting started. The DRC cut ties with Rwanda after rebels, allegedly backed by Rwanda, invaded Goma, a city in the DRC, forcing 400,000 people to flee.
Some social media users supported Tems’ decision, praising her for standing with the DRC.
One person wrote, “Africa must take action against Rwanda for harming our brothers in Congo. We cannot allow Africans to kill Africans on African soil! #BoycottRwanda.”

Another user thanked Tems for showing support. “Thank you @temsbaby for standing with the DRC. Your voice helps bring attention to this crisis,” they wrote.

However, some people criticized her for canceling the show, accusing her of thinking too highly of herself.
One person wrote, “She thinks she is a big star like Knowless Butera, Sheebah Karungi, or Tyla. She even thinks she is Rihanna. No wonder Ayra Starr is more loved. Tems needs to humble herself first.
