According to a statement from his media team, Atiku remains a loyal and committed member of the PDP, which is the main opposition party in Nigeria.
The statement emphasized that the rumors of his defection were baseless and had no logical foundation.
It explained that the former vice president is currently focused on building a grand coalition that will unite opposition parties, including the PDP, to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
Atiku’s team further clarified that the idea of him leaving the PDP contradicts his efforts to bring together various political groups under one strong coalition.
The statement reassured his supporters that he has no intention of abandoning the party he has consistently worked with, adding that those spreading false reports are only trying to create confusion and weaken the opposition.
The statement also accused certain individuals and groups of attempting to mislead Nigerians about the strength of the opposition coalition, which Atiku and other political leaders are actively working on.
It urged the public to disregard the false reports and remain focused on the bigger political picture, which is to rescue the country from the grip of the APC-led government.
