The governor assured the commission of the support of Southwest governors, saying they would work closely with the agency to ensure it has the resources and cooperation needed to achieve its mandate.
He urged the commission to make prudent use of available resources and align its programmes with the broader national development agenda.
Sanwo-Olu also challenged the commission to begin delivering projects without delay, stressing that it should focus on achieving measurable results rather than waiting years before making an impact.
“You can fast-track; you don’t have to work for a number of years to achieve what you need to achieve,” the governor said.
He further encouraged the commission to benchmark its performance against other regional development commissions in the country by adopting successful initiatives that can accelerate development across the South-West.
The governor pledged his commitment to ensuring the commission remains effective and competitive.
Responding to a proposal for Southwest governors to serve as the commission’s advisory committee, Sanwo-Olu described the request as a welcome development and promised to discuss it with his fellow governors.

He also assured the commission that Lagos State would provide a liaison office and other necessary support to facilitate its operations.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Southwest Development Commission, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the commission and the governors of the Southwest.
According to him, the engagement with Governor Sanwo-Olu, as Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum, marks the beginning of the commission’s consultations with leaders across the region as it commences operations.
“It is a good starting point for the commission to familiarise itself with the managers of the states in the South-West, beginning with Lagos,” Adetunmbi said.
