- Former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to use the recent Supreme Court verdict as a catalyst for total reconciliation.
- Saraki stated that the court’s decision settles the leadership dispute, affirming the Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara-led National Working Committee as the legally recognized authority.
- The former Senate President noted that the invalidation of the Ibadan convention vindicated his earlier advice to adopt an interim arrangement to avoid legal crises.
- He called on all members to stop the “blame game” and unite across all 36 states and the FCT to build a viable platform for the 2027 general elections.
Following last Thursday’s Supreme Court judgment, Dr. Bukola Saraki has issued a strong call for unity, asserting that the legal resolution effectively ends the uncertainty surrounding the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released through his media office, Saraki advised the leadership elected during the March 2026 national convention to view the verdict not as a victory over rivals, but as a challenge to rebuild the party’s foundation.

He emphasized that the focus must now shift away from past disputes and toward positioning the PDP as a credible alternative for the Nigerian electorate in 2027.
Saraki recalled that he had consistently warned party elders and leaders against holding the Ibadan convention, advocating instead for an interim leadership structure to prevent the exact type of internal tension that eventually unfolded.
With the apex court now invalidating that convention, he urged aggrieved members who have been involved in months of litigation to retrace their steps and return to the fold.

According to Saraki, the ruling clarifies that the Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara-led National Working Committee is the only recognized leadership by both law and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In his message to the National Working Committee, Saraki stressed the importance of discipline and adherence to the rule of law as the party prepares for future polls.
He insisted that those who may have lost in court should view their return to the party as a collective victory for the organization’s stability.
By moving past the era of blame and legal battles, Saraki believes the PDP can finally stabilize itself and function as a united opposition capable of achieving victory across the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
