Eyewitnesses say the bus was heading towards the university campus when the collision occurred. Videos from the scene show officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) evacuating bodies and placing them in a van.
While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, some residents have blamed overspeeding and poor road visibility for the deadly crash. Others questioned why heavy-duty trucks are often left unattended on busy city roads.

As of the time of filing this report, the authorities are yet to release the names of the deceased. The University of Port Harcourt has also not issued an official statement.
The heartbreaking news has thrown the campus community into mourning, with many students calling for improved safety measures and better enforcement of traffic regulations in the area.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
