Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has approved the appointment of Mr. Femi Adeoye as COVID-19 Response Ambassador in the state.
Ekohotblog understands that Mr. Adeoye is the retired road safety officer whose video went viral for denying his son entry into his house after returning from a trip in Lagos in accordance with existing regulations.
Governor Fayemi received him at the State House in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, where he commended him for the chivalrous act of courage.
The Governor said he had proved himself to be a worthy ambassador as the State fights against the deadly virus.
Fayemi said Adeoye represents the kind of self-discipline, selflessness, and sense of collective responsibility that Ekiti State and Nigeria need desperately to fight the virus.
He therefore appointed him as COVID-19 Response Ambassador in the state.
According to the governor, Adeoye will help to propagate safety messages as a member of the COVID-19 Task Force.
Today, I appointed Mr. Adeoye, father of the young man who sneaked into Ekiti state, as a COVID-19 Response Ambassador in Ekiti State. I am proud of Mr Adeoye as a principled Ekiti man and I salute his courage in helping us keep Ekiti safe. #covid19 #covid19Ekiti pic.twitter.com/XkJxVE283Z
