Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hss disclosed the nature of his discussion with President Bola Tinubu during a private meeting at Tinubu’s Lagos residence.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the meeting occurred last weekend and came as a surprise to many, given Sowunmi’s previous critiques of Tinubu’s administration.

In an interview with Channels TV, Sowunmi explained that the purpose of his visit was to gain a better understanding of why opposition political parties frequently blame Tinubu’s government. Though some have speculated that Sowunmi’s meeting with Tinubu signals a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I wanted to be sure that the thought process of President Bola Tinubu’s policies is well clear to him and his expected outcome is also pretty much a destination that is known,” Sowunmi said.
He emphasized that his visit to President Tinubu’s residence was motivated by their deep relationship, which began in 1994. He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to engage in open and honest discussions about the reasons opposition parties frequently blame Tinubu’s government for their crises.
In addition to addressing political concerns, Sowunmi commended President Tinubu’s intelligence and active mind, noting that the president provided thoughtful responses to all questions asked during their conversation.
“First of all, his brain is very alert. He’s fit, never mind that he is frail. The kind of questions I asked him – you know when you’re asking someone questions and the person is answering without looking at a book – and he is answering it the way he sees it and you’re agreeing,” he said.
