EKO HOT BLOG reports that the report, sponsored by the committee’s chairman and Senator representing Cross River South, Asuquo Ekpenyong, was presented by Senator Patrick Ndubueze, who represents Imo North.
Presenting the report, Ndubueze said President Bola Tinubu transmitted Marwa’s nomination to the Senate, after which it was referred to the committee for consideration.
He explained that the committee conducted an open screening to assess the nominee’s qualifications, experience, integrity and readiness for the position.
“Having carefully screened the nominee and considered all relevant documents submitted, the committee is satisfied that Dr. Zainab Marwa possesses the requisite qualifications, experience, integrity, and competence required for the appointment.
“Accordingly, the committee recommends that the Senate do confirm the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa as a member representing the North-East in the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission,” Ndubueze said.
Following the presentation, the Senate dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to consider the report before adopting its recommendations.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio subsequently put the nomination to a voice vote, after which lawmakers unanimously approved the appointment.
“The nomination of Dr. Zainab Marwa, representing the North-East in the Niger Delta Development Commission, is hereby confirmed as a member of the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission,” Akpabio declared.

He commended the Senate Committee on the NDDC for its swift handling of the assignment and thanked lawmakers for their contributions during the consideration of the report.
“I thank the committee on NDDC for the expeditious manner in which this assignment was carried out. I thank all my colleagues for their contributions.
“I wish the confirmed nominee, Dr. Zainab Marwa, well as a member of the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission. I hope that her contribution will enhance the development and progress of the Niger Delta region,” Akpabio said.
