President Bola Tinubu has submitted the name of Dr Zainab Marwa to the Senate for confirmation as a member of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the nomination, which was presented to lawmakers through a letter read during plenary by the Senate President, seeks Marwa’s appointment as the representative of the North-East geopolitical zone on the commission’s board.
According to the President, the nomination was made in accordance with the provisions of the NDDC Act and is intended to fill the vacancy created by the exit of former board member, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas.
Namdas resigned from the board in March 2026 following his decision to pursue the governorship seat in Adamawa State ahead of the next election cycle.
Tinubu urged the Senate to give the nomination prompt attention to ensure the commission continues to carry out its responsibilities effectively and without interruption.
Following the presentation of the request, the Senate referred the nomination to its Committee on the NDDC for screening and further legislative consideration.

The committee is expected to review Marwa’s qualifications and submit its report to the Senate for final approval.
If confirmed, Marwa will become the North-East representative on the NDDC Governing Board, which oversees programmes and projects aimed at accelerating development across the Niger Delta region through infrastructure, social interventions and economic initiatives.
