Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has empowered Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) across the 16 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs/LCDAs) in Lagos East Senatorial District to promote economic inclusion and self-sufficiency.

Ekohotblog reports that the initiative, facilitated through the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), provided participants with valuable training and financial support.

The two-day empowerment program, held in Ikorodu, equipped beneficiaries with practical skills in Social Media Strategy and Digital Marketing, Skill Monetization, and Bead Making. Each participant also received a one-time grant of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Speaking at the event, Senator Abiru reaffirmed his commitment to fostering inclusivity and economic growth.

“Our goal is to ensure that every individual, regardless of physical challenges, has access to opportunities for financial independence. This program is about empowering you with skills and resources that will help you build sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Bolanle expressed her gratitude, stating that the training had opened new doors for her.

“Before now, I struggled to find a stable source of income, but this initiative has given me the tools and confidence to start my own business. The grant will go a long way in making my dreams a reality,” she said.

The program is part of Senator Abiru’s ongoing efforts to uplift Lagos East residents. Over time, hundreds of constituents have benefited from various skill acquisition programs, financial assistance, and agricultural support, including fertilizer distribution for local farmers.

Community leader Mr. Abiodun commended the initiative, emphasizing its positive impact on the economic landscape.

“This is a significant step in breaking financial barriers for PWDs. It is inspiring to see leaders like Senator Abiru invest in the future of vulnerable groups,” he remarked.
