EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ayoola, who hails from Itesiwaju Local Government Area, confirmed his resignation in a letter dated Friday, October 10, 2025, and addressed to the state leadership of the PDP.
The former lawmaker served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former governors Rashidi Ladoja and the late Adebayo Alao-Akala between 2003 and 2011. He later represented Oyo North Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, emerging as the only PDP senator elected in the entire South-West region during that period.
His departure marks the exit of one of the party’s most experienced figures in Oyo politics.
In his resignation letter, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan, Ayoola expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform and opportunities it provided him to serve at both the state and national levels.
“I, Senator Agboola, a member and leader of the PDP at the state and national levels, appreciate the party for the opportunities afforded me to serve and for the achievements recorded during my time,” he stated.
Explaining the reason behind his exit, Ayoola said his decision was driven by “future political pursuits,” adding that his absence from recent local and state congresses was deliberate.
“You will observe that I did not participate in all the recently held congresses, both at the local and state levels, due to future political pursuits which are necessary at this material time,” he said.
He concluded the letter by formally severing ties with the PDP, effective October 10, 2025, while wishing the party well in its future endeavours.
“Consequently, I hereby resign my membership from the PDP effective from October 10, 2025, as I wish the party success in its activities,” he said.

Although Ayoola did not reveal his next political destination, sources close to the Oyo political scene suggest that he may be considering aligning with another major political bloc ahead of the 2027 general elections.
