- Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan completes six-month Senate suspension.
- She claims suspension stemmed from sexual harassment petition against Senate President.
- Her return may test the atmosphere in the Red Chamber amid lingering tensions.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has completed the six-month suspension imposed on her by the Senate, effectively clearing the path for her return to legislative functions.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that her suspension which began on March 6, 2025, barred her from attending plenary sessions, accessing official facilities, and participating in Senate-related activities. The Senate had accused her of violating internal rules, though no public report detailing the alleged breach was released.

Throughout the suspension period, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan maintained that the action was politically driven. She alleged that it was a direct response to a petition she submitted accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual misconduct.
“This was never about Senate rules. It’s punishment for speaking out,” she stated in earlier interviews, insisting on her right to call for accountability.

The issue remained tense for months, especially in July when the senator arrived at the National Assembly complex flanked by legal counsel. She carried a court ruling which, according to her, directed an immediate end to her suspension.
With the punitive measure now lapsed, focus is turning to how she will be received by her colleagues, particularly against the backdrop of her unresolved dispute with the Senate leadership. Observers are watching closely to see whether her return will spark renewed tensions or pave the way for reconciliation within the chamber.
