Two Nollywood films, Seven Doors and Abanisete, have emerged as frontrunners for the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, leading with nine and eight nominations respectively.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the nominations were unveiled at a ceremony held in Mayami, Lagos, ahead of the award night scheduled for December 14.

The event will feature a Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Red Carpet, stretching across the newly built Coastal Road in Lagos.

This year’s edition will honour excellence across 25 categories, including a new “Best Series” category reflecting the rise of episodic storytelling in Nigeria’s movie industry.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, expressed excitement that the awards were returning to Lagos, describing the state as “the home of excellence.”
Also speaking, the Group Executive Director for West & Central Africa at Omnicom Media Group, Yinka Adebayo, praised the organisers for sustaining the awards for 17 years, noting that the consistency had helped elevate Nollywood’s global reputation.

Seven Doors and Abanisete lead nominations in major categories such as Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Movie of the Year, while Farmer’s Bride and My Mother Is a Witch also earned multiple nominations.
The coveted Movie of the Year award will be contested by Abanisete, My Mother Is a Witch, and Farmer’s Bride, in what promises to be one of the most competitive editions yet.
