Police stated that no signs of foul play have been detected, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.
Kim, who began her career as a child actor, was regarded as one of South Korea’s most promising young stars. She rose to prominence in 2009 with her critically acclaimed role in A Brand New Life, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
She further gained recognition for her performances in the 2010 hit film The Man from Nowhere and the 2012 thriller The Neighbour, which earned her industry awards.
Kim continued to establish herself with notable roles in films like A Girl at My Door (2014) and the television drama Mirror of the Witch (2016).
However, her career took a downturn in 2022 following a drunk driving incident. She was arrested and later fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023. As a result, she withdrew from the public eye, and her role in Netflix’s 2023 K-drama Bloodhounds was largely edited out.
