Nollywood’s leading special effects artist, Onilogbo Hakeem, has shared an extraordinary story about the supernatural origins of his professional skills.

Hakeem recounted how his journey began with a dream in which a tall, faceless figure in white held his shoulder and asked about his talents.
After Hakeem identified himself as an artist, the figure promised to announce his name to the world.
Shortly after, while serving in a church drama group, Hakeem was unexpectedly tasked with creating special effects, a field he was entirely unfamiliar with at the time.
“While I was thinking of how to go about it, I had the dream again where the man told me how I would achieve the special effect,” Hakeem explained.

He noted that the techniques he used in real life were exact replicas of the instructions given to him in his sleep.
These “dream lessons” continued until he reached the expert level he is known for today, creating everything from gory battle wounds to complex aging prosthetics for major movie productions.
The artist also used the platform to pay tribute to the late Nollywood actor and producer Murphy Afolabi.
Hakeem revealed that it was Afolabi who first gave him the moniker “Hakeem Effect,” a name that has now become synonymous with high-quality visual storytelling in Nigeria.
From a mysterious vision to becoming a household name, Hakeem’s career stands as a unique blend of spiritual inspiration and creative dedication.
