Stakeholders Urged to Expedite LAG-ID Card Production and Distribution

In response to the increasing demand for efficient service delivery in Lagos, key stakeholders involved in the card printing and distribution process have been called upon to expedite action.

During a recent meeting at the Green Garden in Lekki, Lagos, the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among all involved parties in achieving a swift and successful rollout of the LAG-ID Card initiative.

This call to action was reiterated by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MIST), Engr. (Mrs.) Ibilola Kasunmu, who stressed the significance of setting a high standard for other states looking to replicate Lagos’ progress in this area.

Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, General Manager of LASRRA, further highlighted the necessity of the meeting, asserting that it was crucial to address existing challenges and devise concrete strategies to resolve them effectively.

Her words “I urge all the concerned parties; Printing Contractors and other relevant Stakeholders to treat the meeting as a matter of urgency”

Adebiyi-Abiola said that the goal is also to reinvigorate the Lagos Identity Card project and ensure that every resident receives his ID card in a timely, efficient manner.

She implored all parties to work together to ensure that the project is not only completed swiftly but also with the highest level of quality and service to the people of Lagos.

The high point of the meeting was the breakout session where the three groups identified challenges and proffered solutions.

Some of the challenges identified include Operational bottlenecks, Supply Chain disruptions, Public Engagement and Coordination gaps, among others.

Some actionable solutions and recommendations discussed to address the challenges agreed upon include: Improvement in Project management, Strengthening Partnerships with more efficient vendors, introducing innovative technologies to streamline processes and expanding distribution centres to ensure timely card collection, to mention a few.

Other dignitaries present at the event were Chief Product Officer, Sterling Bank, Mustapha Otaru; General Manager, Secure ID, Dada Oluwole; Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Identiko Integrated Solutions, Jide Agbaje; Project Manager, LASRRA, Akin Kehinde and Head, Banking as a Service and Embedded Payments, Sterling Bank, David Adebayo.

The Lagos Identity Card initiative is a component of the State’s efforts to enhance governance, improve access to government services, and promote security.
