EKO HOT BLOG reports that Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return in posts shared on its official social media platforms on Sunday.
Announcing the development, the club expressed excitement over the return of the Nigerian international.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club wrote.
In a separate statement, Chippa United said the goalkeeper had returned to the Eastern Cape after taking time away from the club.
“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club,” the statement read.
The South African club, however, did not disclose the terms or duration of Nwabali’s contract.
Nwabali initially joined Chippa United in 2022 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s standout performers with a series of impressive displays between the sticks.
The goalkeeper rose to international prominence during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where he played a key role in Nigeria’s run to the final.
He produced several outstanding performances throughout the tournament as the Super Eagles finished runners-up.
His displays attracted interest from clubs outside South Africa, but he remained with Chippa United until his departure in February 2026.

Nwabali’s absence from club football in recent months limited his competitive appearances and ultimately cost him his place in the Super Eagles squad.
The goalkeeper will now be aiming to regain regular playing time, rediscover his best form and stake his claim for a return to Nigeria’s national team ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
