Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has criticised the growing trend of fake miracles in churches, expressing his concerns in a post on Instagram.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that he condemned the practice of deceiving and exploiting vulnerable people, stating that it tarnishes the true essence of Christianity.

Ogbonna stressed that using God’s name to spread falsehood betrays the core message of the gospel, warning that such actions lead to broken trust, lost lives, and faith being manipulated for profit.

He also urged people to be cautious about social media trends that mock or disrespect religious beliefs, emphasizing that Christianity should never be used as a tool to gain likes, views, or viral fame.

Ogbonna called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the government to take action by regulating and holding pastors who engage in fraudulent practices accountable.

He wrote: “Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, he will also reap. Fake miracles are mocking Christianity.

“It is heartbreaking to see pastors using fake miracles to deceive and exploit vulnerable people. These actions tarnish the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The result? Broken trust, lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit.
