The Publicity Secretary of the association Seun Ogunsakin released a statement on Friday to discuss the state of the association concerning the issue
” We are appalled and deeply saddened by the recent killings of three promising students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba; of which the latest is a hardworking final year student and POS operator.
” The brutal killings of these students by indigenes of Akungba Akoko underlines a disturbing pattern of extortion and hostility being experienced by AAUA students in the host community.
” These dangerous predicaments which have culminated in the cold-blooded murder of AAUA students demand immediate and concrete attention and action from all critical stakeholders, especially the government of Ondo State and the host community, the group stated”.
The group expressed disappointment that Akungba which was known for being a peaceful community is now plagued by rising violence stating that if proper action is not taken against the lawless behaviour of the indigenes,Akungba might return to its pre-uni days.
The Alumni also emphasized on the importance of security for all students regardless of their heritage and upbringing.
They also called on the attention of the government of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa to improving hostel infrastructure within the campus.
