With the official 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin, now concluded, the process to appoint his successor is set to begin on Monday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the late monarch, who served as the 43rd Olubadan, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 90, after spending less than a year on the throne.

A notice issued by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, on behalf of the Olubadan in Council, confirmed that deliberations for the appointment of the 44th Olubadan will begin on Monday.
All indications point to High Chief Rasidi Adewole Ladoja, the current Otun Olubadan, as the next in line. Ladoja, a prominent figure from the Civil Line of the Olubadan Chieftaincy, will turn 80 on September 25, 2025.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the newly completed Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, located in Ibadan North Local Government Area, and will commence at 11:00 a.m.
Ladoja is a former Senator of the Federal Republic and past Governor of Oyo State. He now stands as the Olubadan designate.
