EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lamido, who had earlier declared his intention through a post on his verified Facebook page, visited the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja on Monday but was reportedly denied access to the form.
Speaking to journalists after the incident, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs said he was fully prepared to contest at the party’s elective National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“I came here ready to buy the form and contest for the position of National Chairman, but I was told it was not available. If I am not allowed to obtain it, I will seek legal redress,” Lamido stated.
He argued that the move to stop him from purchasing the form was an attempt to stifle internal democracy within the PDP, warning that such actions could harm the unity and credibility of the opposition party.
Recall that PDP governors recently endorsed former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as their preferred candidate for the chairmanship position. Before the endorsement, Lamido, Turaki, and former governors of Kano and Kaduna States, Ibrahim Shekarau and Ahmed Makarfi, had all declared interest in the race.
Party insiders suggest that the governors’ endorsement of Turaki may have influenced Lamido’s inability to access the form, a development that has sparked mixed reactions within the PDP.

Lamido, however, vowed to continue his pursuit, maintaining that his ambition is driven by a desire to reposition the party for victory in 2027.
