The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has urged the Super Falcons to quickly recover from their loss to Malawi and concentrate on the bigger objective of winning the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the Shaibu described Tuesday’s defeat as only a temporary setback, saying it should inspire the team to deliver stronger performances in the rest of the tournament.

He encouraged the players not to allow the result to affect their confidence, stressing that setbacks are part of football and that true champions are judged by how they respond to adversity.
“The task ahead is bigger than yesterday’s defeat,” Shaibu said, while urging the players and coaching crew to remain united, disciplined and committed to their title ambition.
The NIS boss expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to bounce back, noting that the Super Falcons have the quality, experience and winning mentality required to challenge successfully for another continental crown.
Shaibu also revealed that President Bola Tinubu is expecting to receive the team with the WAFCON trophy, adding that the President has continued to show strong support and belief in the players’ ability to make the nation proud.
He reminded the team that millions of Nigerians are backing them, with supporters across the country and abroad hoping to see them reclaim the championship.
According to him, the Super Falcons represent the resilience, unity and aspirations of Nigeria, urging them to use the disappointment of the defeat as motivation to regain momentum and reward the confidence reposed in them by lifting the WAFCON trophy.
