Nigeria’s Super Falcons have claimed the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over Morocco in Saturday’s final.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the clash, held at a packed stadium, saw Morocco start on a strong note. Ghizlane Chebbak opened the scoring in the 12th minute, giving the North African side an early lead. The pressure mounted on Nigeria when Sanaâ Mssoudy doubled Morocco’s advantage in the 24th minute, leaving the Falcons trailing 2–0 by halftime.
Nigeria, however, returned with a renewed sense of urgency in the second half. Esther Okoronkwo converted from the penalty spot in the 64th minute to pull one back for the Falcons. Just seven minutes later, Folashade Florence Ijamilusi netted the equaliser, setting the tone for a tense final stretch.
The turnaround was completed in the 88th minute when Jennifer Echegini fired home the winner, sparking wild celebrations from the Nigerian bench and fans.
The Super Falcons dominated key statistics in the encounter. They registered 14 total shots to Morocco’s 10, with five of theirs on target. Nigeria also enjoyed 55% of the possession, completed 280 passes with a 69% accuracy, and earned five corners compared to Morocco’s three.
Despite the high stakes, the match remained fair with no cards issued. Nigeria committed seven fouls, while Morocco had 12.

With the win, the Super Falcons continue their dominance in African women’s football, reaffirming their place as the continent’s most successful national team.
