EKO HOT BLOG reports that the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a statement, explaining that the tanker lost control and collided with two other trucks. The collision caused the tanker to somersault into a pit, leading to a massive fire.
“The incident happened around Fijabi House, Agbowo, Ojoo/Iwo Road Expressway,” Akinyinka stated. “We received a distress call about the fire at exactly 2:45 a.m. and immediately deployed personnel to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby residential areas.”
Upon arrival, firefighters found three trucks, spaced about 20 meters apart, involved in the inferno. While the tanker driver was tragically burned to death, the motor boy was rescued alive and rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for medical attention.
The fire entirely destroyed the tanker, but firefighters successfully saved the other two trucks. Akinyinka noted that the agency worked alongside police and other security agencies at the scene to ensure law and order.

The agency’s Director of Operations, Ismail Adeleke, led the firefighting team, with support from the police and other security personnel, to manage the situation effectively.
