- TCN Announces Six-Hour Power Outage In Ogun Communities

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned six-hour power outage in parts of Ogun State on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The company disclosed that the outage would affect electricity consumers in the McPherson, University and Ogunmakin areas between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement shared on its 𝕏 handle on Thursday, TCN said the temporary disruption was necessary to enable engineers carry out scheduled maintenance on the 40MVA 132/33KV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN, Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance exercise would allow the company’s technical team to conduct preventive routine checks on the transformer.
According to her, the exercise was aimed at ensuring the continued optimal performance and reliability of the equipment.
She said, “The maintenance exercise is to enable TCN crew to undertake preventive routine checks on the transformer to ensure continued optimal performance. Consequently, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to its customers in McPherson, University, and Ogunmakin during the period of the maintenance.”
TCN explained that the maintenance work would temporarily prevent the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company from supplying electricity to customers in the affected communities.
The company added that the exercise formed part of ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and reduce the risk of unexpected faults on the transmission network.
TCN apologised to residents, businesses and electricity consumers who would be affected by the temporary outage and appealed for understanding during the maintenance period.
The company assured customers that power supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise is completed.
