A 36-year-old teacher, John Ankomah Boateng, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labour by the Bekwai Circuit Court for robbery.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Boateng, who taught at Freso SDA Junior High School, was found guilty of stealing more than GH¢238,550 from Bosomefreho Rural Bank Limited using the GhanaPay app.

Despite having only GH¢2.23 in his account, Boateng managed to carry out the theft between February 9 and February 26, 2024.
He pleaded guilty to the charges after being arrested on March 13, 2024, following an investigation by the Ashanti South Regional CID, which began after the crime was reported on February 28.
During interrogation, Boateng admitted to transferring large sums to individuals for safekeeping, including GH¢10,000 to Isaac, GH¢5,000 to Kwaku, GH¢20,000 to Duah, and GH¢5,000 to Neymar.

He also revealed that he sent GH¢40,000 to a travel agent to process his travel documents.

The court, presided over by His Honour Isaac Apietu, handed down the sentence after Detective Chief Inspector Eric Twum presented the case.
