The visitors kept the home side at bay for most of the contest, frustrating Mikel Arteta’s men as the clock ticked down.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 89th minute when Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres took advantage of a costly error by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Pickford failed to deal with a dangerous delivery from Dowman, allowing Piero Hincapié to redirect the ball into the six-yard area, where Gyökeres finished from close range.
The late opener sparked celebrations among the Arsenal players and supporters, as the goal put the Gunners on course for another crucial league victory.
In the final moments of stoppage time, Dowman added a second goal to seal the win. With Pickford upfield for an Everton corner, Arsenal launched a swift counter-attack, allowing the 16-year-old to sprint forward and calmly finish into an unguarded net.

The strike made Dowman the youngest player ever to score in the Premier League and also the youngest goalscorer in Arsenal’s history.
The victory extends Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to ten points ahead of Manchester City F.C., who were due to face West Ham United F.C. later at the London Stadium.
