Party chieftains in Lagos and Osun states have rejected the proposed zoning arrangement, throwing their support behind businessman and political figure, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The rejection has further intensified lobbying efforts within the party, as various camps scramble for influence and support.

In the midst of PDP’s internal struggles, Eko Hot Blog reported that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is gaining ground, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially recognizing former Senate President, Senator David Mark, as the party’s national chairman.
This recognition, following weeks of disputes and delays, has brought clarity to the ADC’s leadership structure and strengthened its position ahead of anticipated coalition negotiations.
Back in the PDP, the lack of clarity on micro-zoning continues to cause unease. Many aspirants are said to be in the dark about their chances, as intense behind-the-scenes manoeuvres continue nationwide.
A party source confirmed that discussions are ongoing at state and zonal levels, with several influential figures actively travelling across the country to lobby delegates.
“The consultations are still ongoing,” said PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor. “We expect clearer direction after the party’s 103rd NEC meeting on October 15.”
