There Will Be No Scarcity Even If… – NNPC

Petrol Subsidy

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says there is enough petrol to avert scarcity if oil workers go on strike.

NNPC’s spokesperson, Kennie Obateru, dismissed insinuations of the possible scarcity of petroleum products following an ongoing disagreement between the Federal Government and members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN).

PENGASSAN is in disagreement with the Federal Government over the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.

Obateru, quoted the corporation’s Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, as saying that the industrial action embarked upon by PENGASSAN would not lead to scarcity of petroleum products.

Kyari expressed hope that the industrial dispute would be settled amicably, stating that the country had enough stock of products to service consumers and were open for business.

He said the corporation had thus far provided a stock of over 2.9 billion litres of petrol to guarantee seamless movement of people, goods and services across the country in the forthcoming Christmas season and beyond.

Kyari said NNPC was determined to make the 2020 end-of-year festivities a zero fuel queue period.
