President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as the Chairman of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for an initial four-year term.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a statement issued on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the appointment took effect on March 11, 2025.
Dr. Oloriegbe, a former senator representing Kwara Central in the 9th National Assembly, brings extensive experience in healthcare and legislative leadership. He previously served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health from 2019 to 2023 and also led the Joint National Assembly Committee on Health.
He holds a Master’s degree in Coaching and Consultation from the University of Oxford, UK, and HEC, Paris.
He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Oloriegbe is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN), the Guild of Medical Directors of Nigeria, the Nigeria Venereal Disease Association, the International Aids Society (IAS), and the Africa Health Leadership and Management Network.
