“We are just here to assure you that we share in your grief, we share in your pain,” President Tinubu told the family. “A loss in flesh is not a loss in spirit.
The spirit he left with us is a spirit of hard work, dedication, patriotism, and honestyand we are doing just that.”
The President described the late Buhari as a national icon whose values remain a compass for the nation, promising the continuation of his legacy.
“We will continue on the path of honesty, integrity, and great character that he imbued in us,” he said. “May God help Nigeria, keep us united, and lead us to the promised land.”
A visibly emotional Aisha Buhari expressed deep appreciation for the President’s visit, calling it a “source of consolation.”
“I would like to use this medium to thank you once again,” she said. “You, the First Lady, and the wife of the Vice President, for standing by me and my family.”
She called on Nigerians to emulate her late husband’s principles of justice and accountability, and prayed for peace and unity across the country.
Tinubu’s visit was backed by a strong entourage that included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and governors Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto).
Key cabinet members also joined the visit, including Finance Minister Wale Edun, Budget and Planning Minister Atiku Bagudu, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Earlier in the day, President Tinubu also attended the wedding of Nasirudeen Abdulaziz Yari, son of Senator Abdulaziz Yari, who represents Zamfara West. The groom married Safiyya Shehu Idris at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque in the heart of Kaduna.
President Tinubu, joined by other dignitaries, formally received the groom’s hand in marriage after a N1 million dowry was confirmed by the bride’s family representative, Ibrahim Ashiru.
Commending the couple and their families, Tinubu emphasized the importance of upholding tradition and values.
“I encourage the young couple to build their home on faith, love, and mutual respect,” he said.
The ceremony drew political and traditional figures from across the nation and featured prayers by renowned clerics including Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau and the mosque’s Chief Imam, Dr Muhammad Suleiman.
