Governors Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom) and Agbu Kefas (Taraba) attended the caucus meeting following their defection to the ruling party.

Also present were former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, ex-Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim and Ken Nnamani, all of whom were once influential PDP figures before joining the APC.
The caucus meeting, alongside the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) session, had initially been scheduled for mid-December but was later shifted to December 18 and 19 to allow broader participation and address emerging party concerns.
The APC National Caucus comprises top-ranking party leaders, including the President and Vice President, serving and former governors, National Assembly leaders, and zonal representatives, and traditionally meets ahead of the NEC, the party’s highest decision-making body.

Sources within the party described the engagement as strategic, noting that discussions focused on unity, coordination across states, and aligning stakeholders ahead of the party’s activities toward the 2026 political calendar and the 2027 general elections.
Senior government officials at the meeting included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
President Tinubu arrived at the venue at about 7:38 p.m., underscoring the importance attached to the meeting.
