President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Pro-Chancellor, members of the Governing Council, and principal officers for the newly established Federal University of Environment and Technology located in Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni, Rivers State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President named Professor Don Mon Baridam from the South South as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council.

Professor Chinedu Mmom, also from the South South, was appointed as the university’s first Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Baridam is a scholar of Management with a specialization in Organisational Behaviour and has previously served at the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
Professor Mmom, from the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the same institution, is a former Commissioner for Education in Rivers State.
Other members of the Governing Council include Emmanuel Onoja from the North Central, Hamid Adekunle from the South West, Professor Chima Oji from the South East, and Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Lamda from the North West.

To support the smooth launch of the university, President Tinubu also approved the appointment of key administrative officers.
Dr. Mpigi Monday Douglas from the South South was named Registrar, Zoryii Josco Nwaimanie from the North Central was appointed Bursar, and Dr. Saghanen Ntogo G. B., also from the South South, was named the University Librarian.
The Federal University of Environment and Technology is expected to welcome its first batch of students in September 2025.
The law establishing the institution was signed by President Tinubu on February 3, 2025.
