President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Abuja for a two-country official visit to Japan and Brazil. The President departed on Friday, August 15, 2025, with a brief stopover in Dubai.
Eko Hot Blog reports that at approximately 11:15 am, the President’s aircraft departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Among the senior government officials present to bid him farewell were Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Minister of Finance Wale Edun.
According to a statement released by the Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, his first stop is Yokohama, Japan, where he will be attending the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from August 20 to 22.

The main theme of the conference is “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” which will focus on how to transform African economies through private investment and new technologies.
While in Japan, President Tinubu will also meet with other world leaders and Japanese business leaders to strengthen relationships.
Following his visit to Japan, the President will travel to Brazil for a state visit on August 24 and 25. He was invited by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The trip to Brazil will involve important talks between the two countries, a business forum for Nigerian and Brazilian entrepreneurs, and the signing of agreements to improve economic cooperation.
The president is traveling with a delegation of government officials and senior staff to support these diplomatic and economic missions.
