EKO HOT BLOG reports that the storm destroyed more than 50 houses and displaced several residents, leaving many families without shelter. The Village Head of Dokan Mai-Jama’a, Hamisu Tukur, confirmed the incident, stating that the downpour caused widespread destruction across the area.
He said many buildings were severely damaged, while others were completely brought down by the force of the wind.
Residents said the rainfall began around 6:41 p.m. and lasted for about 40 minutes. They noted that it was accompanied by strong winds that blew off rooftops, damaged structures and exposed household belongings to harsh weather conditions.
Several victims were seen sifting through debris in search of recoverable items. Some residents said the storm struck suddenly, leaving little time to safeguard their families or property, and described the scale of damage as overwhelming.
The disaster has worsened living conditions in the community, with many displaced residents now taking refuge with neighbours and relatives.
The rainstorm also affected Sabon Gyero in Millennium City, where several houses were damaged and more than 10 perimeter fences destroyed. The incident further disrupted traffic after a major road was blocked, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.
Residents of the affected communities called for urgent intervention, appealing to the Kaduna State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency and the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency for assistance.
They said victims had lost homes, food items, clothing and other valuables, and require immediate support including shelter, relief materials and medical aid.

Emergency officials have commenced damage assessment, with a team from NEMA deployed to evaluate the situation and guide response efforts.
