The Tinubu–Ambode Support Group on Thursday, August 21, 2025, held a sensitisation campaign at the Epe Court Hall, Ita-Opo, Epe, to mobilise residents for the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Epe Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, has partnered with Rotary International District 9126, Rotary International District 5170, and The Rotary Foundation to launch the Rotary Health Mission & Menstrual Care Project 2.

Lekki LCDA Chairman Installs 400 Solar Street Lights in Seven Communities

The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, has installed more than 400 solar street lights across seven communities in fulfillment of his administration’s promise to improve security and infrastructure.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the benefiting communities include Ilagbo, Shiriwon, Origanrigan, Idata, Olomowewe, Itamarun, and Otolu. The project, according to the council boss, will not only enhance visibility but also contribute to safer night-time movement for residents.

Speaking on the initiative, Engr. Kasali said, “This initiative is part of my vision to bring progress to every community in Lekki LCDA.”

The Director-General of the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Prof. John Obafunwa, has been installed as the Balogun of Ilara Kingdom by the Alara of Ilara, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV).

Eko Hot Blog reports that the conferment ceremony, which took place on Saturday at the palace grounds in Eredo-Epe, drew dignitaries from academia, politics, business, and traditional institutions.

Speaking after his installation, Prof. Obafunwa expressed appreciation to the monarch and the Ilara community for the recognition.

“I am deeply honoured by this title, and I promise to work hand in hand with our revered monarch to bring more development to this kingdom, especially in the areas of education and health facilities,” he said.

The NIMR DG praised Oba Ogunsanwo for prioritizing education and empowering students through scholarships.

The Ilara Kingdom in Epe, Lagos State, came alive over the weekend as the Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV), celebrated his fifth coronation anniversary.

With the anniversary came congratulatory messages from traditional rulers, state governors, political leaders, and eminent Nigerians across the country.

The three-day celebration, which began on Friday, August 15, was a rich blend of culture, religion, and community service.

Residents thronged the streets for a colourful parade, while a Jumat service, commemorative football match, free medical outreach, and empowerment programme featured in the commemoration of the milestone.

The festivities were expected to culminate with the conferment of chieftaincy titles on seven deserving individuals and couples recognised for their contributions to the development of Ilara Kingdom.

The Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) and former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. John Obafunwa, has been installed as the Balogun of Ilara Kingdom in Epe, Lagos State.

Speaking at the occasion, Oba Ogunsanwo explained that the honours were designed to bring accomplished indigenes and friends of the community closer to the throne in order to support the progress of Ilara Kingdom.

He commended the new titleholders and urged them to remain committed to service and community development.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu, has congratulated His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), on his fifth coronation anniversary.

Over 300 Benefit from Free Medical Outreach in Ilara

More than 300 residents of Ilara, Epe Division, have benefitted from a free medical outreach organised as part of the 5th coronation anniversary of the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the initiative, conducted by the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) under the leadership of its Director-General, Prof. John Obafunwa, offered a wide range of services including free eye tests and prescription glasses, dental care, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, malaria testing, cancer screening, health counselling, and medications for various ailments.

Speaking during the outreach, Prof. Obafunwa explained that the gesture was inspired by the vision of the Alara to ensure the people of Ilara enjoy quality healthcare regardless of their economic status.

“This medical initiative was designed to ensure our people are physically and medically fit. With my background in both education and medicine, I see it as my duty to give back to my community and complement the efforts of our royal father in promoting wellness,” Obafunwa said

Alara of Ilara Empowers 300, Offers Free Medical Outreach at 5th Coronation Anniversary

The Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, on Friday empowered 300 indigenes and residents with vocational equipment to promote self-reliance and economic growth.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the distribution of sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, and other tools took place during the first day of events marking the monarch’s 5th coronation anniversary in Ilara, Epe Division.

The initiative, facilitated by Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and a non-governmental organisation, aimed to provide sustainable means of livelihood for the beneficiaries.

Oba Ogunsanwo urged the recipients to use the items judiciously, saying, “No fewer than 300 residents and indigenes benefitted from the empowerment programme.
