Nigeria-eligible defender Michael Kayode completed his medical at Brentford on Wednesday evening after the Premier League club agreed a deal with Fiorentina for his transfer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on X, writing: “Medical tests this evening for Michael Kayode at Brentford after loan deal sealed yesterday with Fiorentina. Here we go, confirmed.”

The 20-year-old joins the Bees on loan with an option to make the move permanent for €16m (£13.2m) at the end of the season, following limited playing time under Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino.
Kayode had made just six starts in 12 appearances this season, despite 26 Serie A appearances last year. Born in Borgomanero, Italy, Kayode started his youth career at Juventus before moving to Serie D club Gozzano in 2020. There, he scored two goals and assisted two others in 34 matches, helping the team gain promotion to Serie C.
He joined Fiorentina in 2021, winning the Coppa Italia Primavera and Supercoppa Italiana Primavera with their youth team, before making his first-team debut.

The full-back has represented Italy at U-18, U-19, and U-21 levels but remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level. Prior to joining Brentford, he had attracted interest from Liverpool.
Kayode’s move to Brentford could open the door for Danish full-back Mads Roerslev’s potential loan move to Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, who have made an official offer for the defender.
