Former U.S. President Donald Trump has directed federal agencies to revoke the security clearances of several political figures, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In a memo issued on Friday, Trump stated that it was no longer in the national interest for these individuals to have access to classified information. CNN reported that Trump instructed government agencies to take immediate steps to revoke any active security clearances and block their access to sensitive materials.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the order also applies to former members of Congress and officials from previous administrations who previously had security clearances.

“I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information,” Trump said in the memo. “I hereby direct every executive department and agency head to take all additional action as necessary and consistent with existing law to revoke any active security clearances held by the aforementioned individuals and to immediately rescind their access to classified information.”

The memo is part of a broader pattern of Trump revoking security clearances from political opponents. Earlier this year, he withdrew former President Joe Biden’s clearance and ended his daily intelligence briefings.

The directive also includes key figures involved in the investigation of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Among those affected are former Republican Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who were members of the House committee that investigated the attack.

CNN also reported that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard confirmed she had revoked security clearances for individuals named in Trump’s memo. Those affected include former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who have been involved in legal actions against Trump.

In a separate directive, Trump ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to review the actions of law firms and attorneys who opposed his administration. This includes those who filed lawsuits challenging his policies.

There has been no official White House response to the decision, but legal analysts say the move will likely face significant opposition.
