Police in Ogun State have arrested two security guards, Isikilu Dauda, 55, and Rasaki Abbas, over the alleged killing of a traveller identified simply as Promise in Ibafo.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned resident, which prompted detectives from the Ibafo Division to quickly move to the scene on April 10, 2026.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the victim was found severely injured and rushed to the hospital. On the way, he reportedly told officers that he had been attacked with machetes by the two suspects after arriving in the area the previous night.
Sadly, he was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.
The police said the body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Preliminary findings revealed a trail of blood linking the crime scene to one of the suspects, leading to his arrest, while further efforts resulted in the capture of the second suspect. Authorities say they are still searching for other accomplices who fled.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured that all those involved would face justice.
He also warned against any form of unlawful violence and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
