UCL: Lookman Scores As Atalanta Extend Unbeaten Run With Win Over Stuttgart
Atalanta maintained their strong start to the season with a well-earned Champions League win over Stuttgart.
The Italian side controlled much of the first half, though it was the hosts who missed the best opportunities. Anthony Rouault headed over from close range, and former Brighton forward Deniz Undav struck the side netting after slipping past the defence.

Atalanta, buoyed by their commanding 3-0 victory over Napoli on Sunday, came out strong in the second half. Ademola Lookman opened the scoring after manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s halftime substitution of Charles De Ketelaere paid dividends; De Ketelaere beat his defender and sent a low cross for Lookman to tap in. Lookman, who scored a hat-trick in last season’s Europa League final, now boasts eight goals in 12 matches this season.
Stuttgart nearly equalized immediately, but Ermedin Demirovic missed from close range. The German team intensified their attacks, but Atalanta sealed the win when substitute Nicolo Zaniolo scored on a breakaway.
