The University of Lagos and Ekiti State University are set to host transformative educational programmes this July, as part of a global initiative spearheaded by Professors Without Borders (PROWIBO), a UK-registered charity committed to expanding access to quality education in underserved communities around the world.
Ekohotblog reports that the initiative is aimed at bridging Nigeria’s widening skills gap by equipping students and faculty with cutting-edge expertise in areas such as social entrepreneurship, African finance, research methodology, and artificial intelligence.

According to Dr. Bob Eckhart, Lead Professor for Nigeria Programs and a Fulbright Scholar, “Over 200 students and faculty members across both institutions will gain direct access to essential knowledge and tools needed to thrive in Nigeria’s evolving economy.
These are not just theoretical sessions, participants will pitch their own social enterprises, develop policy solutions, and master digital tools now demanded by modern employers.”
Dr. Eckhart, who is returning to Nigeria for the fourth time after extensive teaching across three continents, emphasized that the programme’s practical approach is designed to foster innovation, problem-solving, and career readiness.
The programme features a blend of international and local educators, including Charlie Dove-Edwin, a veteran of the investment banking sector and lecturer at Richmond University, London; Dr. Bonnie Ayodele, Associate Professor at Ekiti State University; and Oluseyi Sodiya, a Nigerian IT expert with over two decades of experience in digital transformation.
“This partnership represents exactly the kind of knowledge exchange that strengthens our institutions,” said Dr. Ayodele. “Our students benefit from global perspectives, while our faculty enhance their teaching capabilities by gaining exposure to international methodologies.”
A unique feature of the programme is its inclusivity, local professors will participate alongside students, allowing for a cross-pollination of ideas and pedagogical development.
The initiative responds directly to the increasing demand for graduates with both technical know-how and entrepreneurial mindsets.
Previous editions of the Professors Without Borders programme have seen participants secure roles at top Nigerian firms or successfully launch their own ventures.
