The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has responded to a viral video showing a female student assaulting a male lecturer. The university assured the public that it is conducting a fair and thorough investigation into the matter.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the university’s Acting Head of Information, Njelita Louis, UNIZIK identified those involved as Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Mbakwe Precious, a 300-level student of History and International Studies.
The incident, which was recorded on video and widely shared on social media, shows a heated argument between the lecturer and the student. The situation escalated when the student bit the lecturer during a disagreement over a TikTok video recording.
The university emphasized its commitment to fairness, discipline, and excellence. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, has ordered a detailed and unbiased investigation into what happened.
“We ask everyone to stay calm while we work to find out the truth. UNIZIK is a place of learning that values discipline and order, and we will take the right actions based on the investigation’s findings,” the statement said.
