BY BABATUNDE KAKA
The trio of Hon Abiodun Tobun, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe Constituency I, Hon Oluwaseun Dahunsi Ogunkelu (SKETEL), Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe Constituency II and Princess Surah Animashaun, Chairman, Epe Local Government, have lauded Member Representing Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Wale Raji for the provision of 120 market stalls to marketers at Ito-Ikin market in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
Speaking with Ekohotblog during the commissioning of the 120 market stalls facilitated by Hon Wale Raji, the political leaders showered encomiums and adulations on the lawmaker for the initiative.
According to Hon Ogunkelu (Sketel), it was important to witness the historic event in Ito-Ikin. He noted that Hon Wale Raji’s return to the Green Chamber has been of immense gratification for his constituents.
He said: “Coming to Ito-Ikin today to rejoice in solidarity with our brother and leader, MHR, Hon Wale Raji for the commissioning of 120 market stalls is a good project that he has been nursing for long.
“Thank God that it is because he was returned for another term that he can be able to do this at the right time. I believe in him when he said that this is just the beginning. He has promised to do more for other communities.”
He also warned the beneficiaries not to allow any unscrupulous individuals to swindle them into paying any kickbacks as the stalls were allotted free of charge.
“I want to advise the beneficiaries to maintain the shops properly because the MHR had announced that the market women should not give anybody a dime because it is free. This does not mean they should not maintain it,” he said.
Hon Abiodun Tobun, a State parliamentarian hailed the project and described it as a result of strategic alliance between the Speaker of the House, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and Hon Wale Raji.
“The commissioning of this project, 120 stalls for the people of Ito-Ikin and by extension Agbowa-Ikosi LCDA is a monumental one and we want to appreciate the efforts of Hon Tansir Olawale Raji for doing this.
“It shows quite clearly that he’s representing the people well. This is the desire of the people and he is giving it to them.
“So, we want to appreciate him and Rt Hon Gbajabiamila for supporting him to achieve this for our people.
“It is monumental and we are impressed that he is giving us true representation. We want to request him to do more,” he stated.
Abiodun also counselled the beneficiaries of the project to jettison any form of underhanded practices and embrace the virtues of honesty and integrity.
“They should come together as one, they should promote economic activities in this area and they should live above the board, they should trade without fear or favour and they should not sell substandard products and they should not defraud anybody who comes from the outer world to come and buy from them. They should be good ambassadors of this community and they should use the stall to the glory of God and serve humanity.”
In the same vein, the Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun commended Hon Wale Raji for putting smiles on the faces of the people of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
According to her, the new market stalls would significantly boost the economy of the LCDA and also promote commerce and trade in Epe Division.
“Well, I really want to commend our MHR for this wonderful project. To me, it would bring more IGR for the Local Council because, in the next few months, you’ll see the many will occupy this place.
“At the same time, it is a plus for us because we don’t have enough market space. I’m talking about the whole of Epe Division.”
She also tasked the market men and women on the need to promote a peaceful atmosphere for business relations.
