Hilda Baci is no stranger to public cooking appearances.

She has displayed her culinary skills on various Television Cook shows and represented Nigeria at the Jollof Faceoff Competition in 2021, emerging as the winner.

Earlier on Monday morning, she broke the cook-a-thon record set in 2019 and set a new 100-hour record by evening.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Guinness World Records (GWR), the top authority on record-breaking achievements around the world, has announced that it is looking forward to reviewing evidence from Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey’s 100-hour cooking stint.
Hilda, known on social media as Hilda Baci, is pursuing a certification for setting the world’s longest cooking marathon with 100 hours.

She’s hoping to snap up the record title for longest cooking marathon (individual) which currently belongs to Lata Tondon (India) with a time of 87 hours, 45 minutes.
Hilda began cooking at 4pm on Thursday and continued through to 8pm on Monday, reportedly whipping up 55 recipes and more than 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour stint.
The GWR said it will review the evidence from the cook-a-thon before it can confirm that the record is official.
“Officials on our records team look forward to reviewing the evidence and hope to be able to verify Hilda’s efforts as a new record very soon,” a GWR spokesperson said.
“We are aware of the record attempt and are looking forward to receiving the evidence for our Records Management Team to review, before we can confirm the record is official.”
Hilda explained she took on the challenge to highlight Nigerian cuisine.
“Nigerian cuisine is the best out there. The more recipes are propagated, the more people will be willing to try it. Nigerian food is such comfort food,” she told CNN.
The GWR review is expected to run for 12 weeks.
The organisation, in its guidelines, states that the 12-week waiting time can be extended, especially due to high demand from several applicants.
Several political leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President-elect Bola Tinubu, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, Former Akwa Ibom Governor, Godswill Akpabio, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have praised the Akwa Ibom-born chef for her inspiring and daring move.
