EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Abdullahi said the coalition sought a political party that could be restructured to align with its reform agenda and the ADC emerged as the most suitable option. He noted that although several parties were considered, the ADC was the only one open to transformation and flexible enough to accommodate the coalition’s vision.
“When we started this journey, we had a list of parameters and the kind of party we wanted. Those from APC rejected their party because they believe the founding principles of APC have been betrayed. Those from PDP said their party has lost its way. Labour Party members also had their regrets. So, we all agreed that if we’re going forward, we must work with a party we can reform,” Abdullahi explained.
He described the ADC as a party that could be reshaped to suit the coalition’s goals. “Some say the ADC is weak, but that is exactly why it works—it’s like clay that can be moulded into something solid,” he said.
Abdullahi emphasized that the coalition was not formed to promote any individual’s political ambition but to serve Nigerians. He made it clear that no one, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, is controlling the coalition.
“This is nobody’s coalition. David Mark is chairing it, not as a front for Atiku or anyone else. He is someone universally trusted,” Abdullahi said.

He added that the coalition had been in planning for over 18 months before it was made public, dismissing critics who recently started questioning their motives.
