EKO HOT BLOG reports that the notice stated that normal court sittings across all divisions will resume on April 14, 2026, after the Easter break. According to the circular, the new schedule replaces any other dates that may have been circulated earlier regarding the court’s Easter vacation.
Judges, lawyers, and court users were advised to take note of the approved timetable and make necessary arrangements for the holiday period. Despite the break, the court said some judicial divisions will remain open to attend to urgent matters that may arise during the vacation.
Only cases considered pressing will be handled during the period. These include matters relating to the enforcement of fundamental rights, cases involving the arrest or release of vessels, and issues that may affect national interest. Other routine matters will not be entertained until the court resumes its normal sittings after the Easter holiday.
To ensure urgent matters are addressed during the vacation, the court assigned specific judges to sit in selected divisions. In the Abuja division, Emeka Nwite and Musa S. Liman will preside over cases that arise during the break.
At the Lagos division, Akintayo Aluko and Ogazi F. Nkemakonam have been assigned to handle urgent matters during the vacation period. For the Port Harcourt division, Phoebe M. Ayua and Adamu T. Mohammed will oversee emergency applications that may arise.
Meanwhile, in the Enugu division, Mabel T. Segun-Bello will attend to urgent cases that require immediate judicial attention during the Easter break.

The court maintained that only urgent and exceptional matters will be considered during the vacation period, while all other cases will resume when normal court sittings begin on April 14, 2026.
