Speaking on behalf of the group, Odion Asemota called on the government to secure justice for the victim. She noted that although Kelvin Izekor is currently on trial, his mother is reportedly claiming that he might be released on the grounds of mental illness.
“This was a man who married Success in June last year, and just eight months later, he fatally stabbed her while she was four months pregnant. After committing the murder on Saturday night, he went to her store on Sunday to take the money meant for her Point of Sale business. He even attempted to secretly dispose of her body on Sunday, but his actions were thwarted when neighbours intervened,” she alleged.
EKO HOT BLOG also reported that the Edo State Police Command confirmed the murder in a statement by Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu. Yamu said that police had received information that Kelvin Izekor had killed his wife and was about to be lynched by an enraged mob.
“Officers from the Aduwawa Division quickly responded to the report and found the victim’s body in a pool of blood, with deep cuts on her head. It required significant effort by the police to calm the mob, apprehend the suspect, and take him into custody for further investigation.
The victim was then rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead,” Yamu stated.
