Women and young Nigerians have taken the lead in the ongoing electoral enrollment as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that 3,867,997 citizens completed their registration at the end of Week Eleven, Phase III of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the latest statistics released by the commission reveal a significant demographic shift ahead of the 2027 general elections. Female registrants numbered 2,037,589 (52.68%), outnumbering male registrants, who stood at 1,830,408 (47.32%).

Furthermore, young voters aged between 18 and 34 years drove the surge, accounting for 2,602,960 (67.29%) of all completed registrations. Students led the occupational distribution with 892,946 (23.09%), followed closely by business owners, farmers, and housewives.
Out of the total registrations completed nationwide, 1,170,134 were conducted online, while 2,697,863 citizens visited physical registration centers. INEC also reported that 41,092 persons living with disabilities completed their registration process during this period.
State-by-state metrics show Kano leading the registration charts with 330,906 voters, followed by Lagos with 181,254, Delta with 166,895, Edo with 156,150, and Ebonyi with 146,507.
At the lower end, Ekiti recorded 2,276 registrations, while Ondo recorded 23,824.
Registration remained suspended in Osun State in accordance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022 due to its upcoming governorship election.
INEC clarified that the 3.87 million figure represents preliminary data, which will undergo rigorous data clean-up using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) alongside public claims and objections before final inclusion on the national voter register.
