He explained that the decision would stand pending the outcome of a full-scale investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings, according to Arigbabu, revealed that the Junior School principal, Mrs. Alaba Olukoga, was involved in the unlawful collection of fees, which allegedly sparked the students’ protest.
In an attempt to disperse the crowd, local security operatives were invited. One student, while trying to escape, jumped over the school fence into a nearby river and lost his life.

While the Senior School principal, Mrs. Temitope Ladipo, was not directly linked to the events, Arigbabu said her suspension was necessary to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in the investigation.
The Commissioner described the incident as tragic, extending the government’s condolences to the bereaved family. He assured that anyone found culpable would face justice.
Arigbabu appealed to students to remain calm and refrain from destroying school property, stressing that vandalism would only compound existing challenges of inadequate infrastructure.
He further reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining free and quality education across Ogun State, adding that the findings of the investigation would be made public once concluded.
