EKO HOT BLOG reports that Edwin explained that the delay in the delivery of 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks ordered from China has slowed the full rollout of Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s nationwide petrol distribution plan.
Speaking on Friday during a facility tour of the Dangote Refinery by former presidential aide Reno Omokri, Edwin said the delayed shipment of trucks has made it difficult to ensure cheaper and uniform fuel prices across all regions.
He stated, “We ordered 4,000 trucks from China, but the ships could not carry all of them at once, and that caused a major delay. By the grace of God, before the end of this year, all the trucks will arrive. Once that happens, we will be able to meet all local fuel demands directly with our own fleet.
“Then you will see the impact — whether you are in Taraba, Maiduguri, or Sokoto — fuel prices will be uniform and significantly lower.”
Edwin also noted that the refinery continues to face challenges with crude oil supply, which has affected its transition plan to 100 percent local crude sourcing.
In July, the company had announced plans to achieve full reliance on local crude by the end of 2025. However, the refinery’s progress was hampered by the temporary suspension of the naira-for-crude initiative due to supply shortfalls from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

Edwin added that following President Bola Tinubu’s directive for crude to be supplied in naira, the company expects a steady resolution of these supply challenges in the coming months.
